Kiara Lee Zarate was born and raised in Pharr, TX and is a proud third-generation migrant farmworker as well as a first-generation college graduate from Michigan State University. She is passionate about education and advocating for farm worker rights and enjoys working alongside others that share the same interests. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and she loves to express herself through music. Her favorite quote is “Who better to dive into the unknown than a Migrant Farmworker?” from the inspirational, true film a Million Miles Away. She hopes to continue to work alongside migrant farm workers and help give back to the community through advocacy, teaching, and outreach.
